Your Baby Can Learn Deluxe Kit
This program is an Early Language Development System that helps to stimulate learning in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The recommended age for this Kit is one month old and up. I have not used the Your Baby Can Learn system, but I have used Hooked and Phonics and I am now using the Little Champion Reader to teach my soon to be four years grandson to read. I believe that all the programs are similar but are some differences in how the materials are presented.
Kids Are Responding
I watched some videos and I saw babies and toddlers responding to the instructions being given on the DVD. I saw more than one baby clapping when the word “clap” was said. The babies responded to word “nose,” and touch their nose when instructed to do so. I also heard an 18 months toddler repeating the letters and what each letter was for (example A is for Apple).
From what I saw in watching Volume 1 Video, the Your Baby Can Learn system is very engaging, many kids are in the video and some said the words (clap, nose) or gave instructions (arms up, put your arms up) while others repeated the words and performed the actions. There are also animals in the video. Since children and animals are doing the actions, it easy for kids who are watching the video to respond to what they are seeing.
The DVD was 19.50 minutes long and includes songs, such as, “the itsy-bitsy spider.” Liked the Hooked on Phonics and the Little Champion Reader, Your Baby Can Learn is set to music. I believe that this system does a great job with engaging the kids in the learning process, and I saw how it can help to speed up the reading process because the kids are having fun while they are learning. However, like the other two programs, the Your Baby Can Learn Deluxe Kit will work best if the instructions are followed.
What’s In The Your Baby Can Learn Deluxe Kit?
The kit contains the following:
- 5 Special Edition Your Baby Can Learn! DVDs in two cases with at least two versions of each volume for a total of 11 videos
- 5 Lift-the-Flap Books
- 5 sets of Sliding Word and Picture Cards (50 words with pictures!)
- Teaching Cards (166 words with game suggestions!)
- Milestone Cards (23 lift-the-flap cards!)
- BONUS follow-up series Your Child Can Read! DVDs
- Parent instructions with link to digital parent guide Dr. Titzer’s Guide to Early Learning
That is a lot of learning materials and learning could go on for a very long time. Like other programs, this program should be used daily. If the activities are done daily, it will help get kids to settle down and focus. From watching videos and reading reviews, I also learned that this company provides the opportunity for parents to teach their kids other languages including Spanish and Chinese. I think that is wonderful.
Will The Program Work?
I believe that the Your Baby Can Learn Deluxe Kit will work if the program guidelines are followed. There are parents who started using the program from their child was 3 months old and said that they saw positive results by the child was eight months. One parent said, the child was saying some of the words and another said, her two years old was speaking complete sentences. The Sliding Word and Picture Cards have words including: dog, drum look up, arms down, wave, tap, arm, ear and hat.
The same words are in the flip-up books, pull-out cards and flash cards. This provides the opportunity for kids to see the same words repeatedly in different colors and I believe that this can help to reinforce what they are learning and increase their vocabulary. In addition, watching the DVDs and seeing other kids performing the actions, will encourage them to join in. In comparing DVD 1 of the Baby Can Learn with DVD 1 of the Little Champion Reader, I believe that the Baby Can Learn DVD is more engaging and does a better job with getting kids to focus.
The pull-out cards in the Baby Can Learn kit is similar to the flash cards in The Little Champion Reader kit and the length of time for the DVDs are about the same. Both programs were designed for Early Reading. The Baby Can Learn Deluxe Kit is recommended for kids between the ages 3 months and 5 years, while the Little Champion Reader is for kids ages 3 months and 7 years.
What Are The Drawbacks?
While the programs might be similar in some ways, I don’t believe that there are any guarantees that every child will be interested in the program initially. While the majority of parents said that the Baby Can Learn program kept their kids engaged and focused, there were parents who said that the program did not catch their child’s attention or keep them focused. This might also be an issue with the Little Champion Reader, since my grandson is not focusing on the materials. At this time, I cannot prove it. However, as we continue to use the program it will become clearer.
There were several reviews stating that one more DVDs in the Baby Can Learn kit did not work. There were also complaints of broken and missing DVDs, as well missing items. Unfortunately, the majority of customer did not provide an update saying if those problems were resolved. However, there was a customer who said she got a refund for a kit that had DVDs that did not work.
There were also customers who had some issues with the Little Champion Reader. These include: non-working CD and DVDs, missing and duplicate items, Again, most of the customers did not say if the issues were resolved. There were also comments of the program being slow and not holding kids’ attention. On the other hand, there were customers who said missing and broken DVD were replaced at no cost. I will add that the Little Champion Reader kit that we purchased came without the pen. My daughter contacted customer service, and they send it.
I hope you enjoyed this review, and that I have provided enough information that will help you determine if the Your Baby Can Learn Deluxe Kit is a good choice to help teach your kids to read.
